Quiet Time with the Lord

Can I be honest for a minute? Quiet time with God hasn’t always been easy for me to prioritize. And there were (and still are) times where I didn’t do quiet time like I should. Sometimes I even just prayed or read my bible to check it off my to-do list. Yuck.

Friend, can I tell you….. that is not what God wants for us. Can I also tell you that it doesn’t have to stay that way?

We can make all of the excuses we want to, I get it. But if you truly want a better relationship with God or better time in His Word, there is a solution and it is available to you, too. I have seen it work in my own personal life and the lives of so many others.

Several years ago I began praying that God would give me a desire to spend time with Him. To be in His Word. To wake up before the rest of my house, before the sun, before work, and start my day with Him. And you know what… He answered my prayer. With several intentional practices implemented, a great accountability partner, and lots of answered prayer… I became a morning person so that I could spend time with Him and in His Word everyday.

Now, I’m not saying you have to wake up before the sun everyday to have quality time with God, but for me, in that season of life, that’s what was required of me because I was teaching 25+ kids in the public school system during COVID, a busy husband, and 3 young children of our own. What I am saying is, if you wish you could spend more time with Him… stop wishing and start praying that He will give you that desire. Form a habit. Be intentional.

I promise that you will never regret spending time in prayer or in God’s Word.

Heavenly Father,

I pray for the person reading this today. You are such a gracious Father and I know that you desire to spend time with us, your children. Lord, often we are busy and our focus is not where it should be. We’re prone to wander. But you’re a merciful God and you persue us. You leave the 99 for the 1. So Lord, I pray that for whoever is reading this right here, right now, if it is your will, give them that desire to seek you above all else. To be hungry for your Word and relationship with you. May you get all the glory, forever. Amen
